Configure the Plugin
↑ Back to top- After activation, go to WooCommerce > Settings > Sequential Order Numbers Pro to configure the plugin.
2. On the settings page, start by selecting your preferred order number format from the dropdown. Formats can include combinations like [Prefix][Number][Suffix][Date]
. Based on your selection, additional input fields will appear to define the prefix, suffix, and date format.
3. Specify the order number length. This defines the number of digits in the sequential number, excluding any prefix, suffix, or date. For example, a length of 3 will format numbers as 001
, 002
, etc.
4. Enter the starting number for your sequential order numbers. This allows you to begin from any number — useful when transitioning from an existing order system or if you prefer not to start from 1.
5. To handle free orders (such as free samples or promotions) separately, enable the ‘Separate sequence for free orders’ option. Then, enter a custom starting number and prefix for these orders to distinguish them from paid ones.
6. Under General settings, configure the Increment counter to control how much each order number increases by (typically 1). You can also enable scheduled resets of your sequence — daily, monthly, or yearly. — and set the starting number for each reset cycle.
7. Enable the Track orders option to allow order tracking via the [woocommerce_order_tracking]
shortcode. Also, enable Search orders to make custom order numbers searchable on the WooCommerce Orders page.
8. Choose which orders should use the new format. You can apply it to upcoming orders only, all existing orders, or based on a specific date or order ID.
9. Save your settings once the configurations are complete.
10. If needed, go to the Troubleshooting tools section to manually update an individual order number or reset all settings back to WooCommerce’s default order numbering.
